We found out at 2:30 am this morning that we would not quite reach the necessary number of votes needed to win one of the six seats for NH State Representative from this District. The results showed me between 4th and 7th place throughout the night, but despite carrying the Town of Andover at 12:30 am by over 140 votes (thank you Andover!), the last town to report (Loudon) showed my campaign 2% shy of 10-yr incumbent Priscilla Lockwood and 4% behind 6-yr incumbent Frank Tupper. We did finish 12% and 29% ahead of the next two candidates.
There are two things in particular that have been coming back to my mind and making the loss difficult. First, I really think that I, and the voice that I have come to represent, would have helped New Hampshire immensely if elected. Second, so many people have become a part of the campaign, by helping out, donating, voting, or getting inspired, and I really wish that I could have given all of you the reward of getting me to the State House. Because all of you deserve it.
But as these two things frustrate me, I can't help but look at all of the other perspectives.
The process leading me up to the election has been quite amazing, and I have learned a tremendous amount. I have met hundreds of really great people, and hopefully have inspired some. I got a chance to work with my Democratic team, most of which were incumbents, who mentored me and helped me out all along the way. I am so appreciative of the opportunities that this campaign has allowed me and all of the doors that it has opened.
My sincerest hope is that the process has not just been worthwhile for me, but also for all of you that have put time and effort into helping me.
The really great part is that yesterday was certainly not about me. It was more about our privilege to vote and how we used it to break barriers. A friend said to me yesterday, "Can you believe how lucky we are? There are millions of people who can't even get food, and we just voted!"
So above all, I am very happy to have been a part of an election—remarkable thing, and particularly, to have been a part of this election year— very inspiring thing.
Thank you all VERY much!
Humbly yours,
Danny

Hi, I'm eighteen-year-old Danny Loehr, and running for State Representative. My district (Merrimack County , District Six) elects 6 representatives and represents the towns of Andover, Boscawen, Canterbury, Loudon, Northfield, and Salisbury. I'm running because I think it is important to have a youth voice present in Concord when decisions are being made about our environment, our education, and about the economy that we will live in.
